Ford & Stanley Talentwise are seeking an experienced Testing Technician to work with CAF Rolling Stock on the Testing and Commissioning of the new Wales & Borders Trains. Working in Newport.

The Opportunity

This is the opportunity to work on a brand-new fleet of trains as they are prepared for service. You will be responsible for testing the new trains and resolving any functional issues that may arise to ensure that every single system on the train is in full working order before handing over to the customer.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Carry out testing on trains 
  •  
  • Complete tasks such as troubleshooting, testing, quality control, tuning and repairs
  •  
  • Complete test reports, internal adjustments, and pending job information accurately.
  •  
  • Verify the electrical & mechanical systems installation, and integrity.
  •  
  • Perform maintenance and fault rectification tasks on the train borne test equipment as necessary in accordance with procedures.
  •  
  • Report test data.
  •  

 

The ideal candidate must have experience with Electrical fault finding. You will be a Team player, who can quickly develop strong working relationships with colleagues, but also self-motivated and able to take ownership and responsibility of your own work. This is a highly pressured environment that would suit someone who is able to stay positive and calm in difficult and stressful situations.

Essentials

  •  
  • Performing a variety of electrical tests

  • Following schematics 
  •  
  • Knowledge of electrical fault finding

  • Experience of rectification

  • Crimping experience 
  •  

Shift Pattern/ Hours

6-2/2-10

This role will be shift based (with a shift premium paid). There may be a need to work nights. 

Other information: A pre-employment Drugs & Alcohol test and Medical must be passed prior to start.
