Mechanical technicians required to transfer from automotive, heavy industry or forces and carry out maintenance and repairs of Diesel Locomotives and freight vehicles.

Locomotive Maintainer

35 – 42 hours per week + potential for overtime

Mixed shifts including days, nights and weekends

Your New Opportunity

You will have a great opportunity of building your skills on safety critical rail vehicles, carrying out maintenance and repairs to a large fleet of vehicles such as locomotive and wagons.

Your New Organisation

You will have the opportunity to work for the UK’s largest rail freight company who are responsible for transporting everything from cereals to petroleum and steel.

You will work out of their facility in South Wales, where hundreds of vehicles are maintained and kept running every year

The Candidate

  • You will be comfortable with maintenance procedures of mechanical components such as brakes, suspension and wheelsets.
  • You will understand basic mechanical, electrical, hydraulic and pneumatic principles.
  • You will be able to follow engineering instructions, work within strict guidelines and interpret written specifications on how different rail vehicles are to be maintained.
  • As part of the above there will be full training on the systems and procedures that you will be required to carry out.

Essential

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent in a relevant engineering discipline.
  • Full UK Driving License
  • Able to pass a medical and drugs and alcohol screening prior to start
